Prehistoric house in Leivithra

In cooperation wth the Archaeological Service of Pieria, we constructed this building at the entrance of the Information and Entertainment Park of Leivithra. Its design is based on an 8th century prehistoric oblong-shaped home found on the slopes of the hill on which the castle of Platamon stands. It consists of a timber frame structure with cob walls, a thatched roof made of bamboo reed and a pebble-style earthen floor. These ancient building techniques were presented to participants on both a theoretical and practical level in the course of a three-day workshop, who then went on to assist in the construction of this building.
