The Pink House
This house was built by a small group of friends and finished by a class of schoolchildren. It is a timber frame structure infilled with a straw-clay mix, with a green roof on top. All windows and doors are salvaged and upcycled, and the exterior render is made of lime and brick dust (a technique called “kourasani” in Greece), lending the home its distinctive pink color. The hole dug to obtain the soil for its construction was transformed into an underground cellar, which is used to store the roots and vegetables produced on the farm. It is used to house some of the inhabitants of cob.gr
